Brothers say goodbye to Lanterns Restaurant
After a long tenure as the catering provider to Brothers Leagues Club, Sunset Cairns QLD Pty Ltd will cease trading at Lanterns Restaurant from Sunday 13th February, 2022.
“The last two years have been extremely tough on hospitality, and the operation of a buffet restaurant in Cairns has been difficult.
“We’ve had a great relationship with Sunset Cairns QLD Pty Ltd and have put in place a number of initiatives to support them through the pandemic. However, with the challenges of the last few months, Sunset Cairns QLD Pty Ltd have requested an early release from their catering contract to which we have agreed to.
Mr Fitzgerald, Brothers General Manager, said the club has moved quickly to provide a new interim dining offer for members and guests.
“Our Head Chef from Fuller Sports Club (part of the Brothers Cairns Group) has put together an exciting new bistro menu that will be available from the café. This will provide a great food offer for members.
“At this stage, Brothers will take over the catering operation and we’re currently working through options for Lanterns Restaurant which is under renovation and due to re-open in the coming months.
“It’s an opportunity to create a new food offer for our members and everything is on the drawing board.
“We’re also very excited to have renovations underway for a brand-new café.”
The new café, Fratellis (which translates to brothers in Italian), will be inspired by European alfresco design, offering an abundance of natural light from new floor to ceiling windows along the expanded Anderson St and English St corner.
The café will offer a modern dining experience with Mediterranean inspired cuisine including pizzas, all-day grazing, light options and delicious coffees, snacks and treats.
The renovations will also include a new dedicated sports bar with a big-screen video wall for racing and live sports, plus TAB and sports betting facilities.
“We’ll have new food offers across the restaurant, café and sports bar, so there is lots to look forward to for members,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
