Brothers Rugby League Football Club hosted a morning tea with the ARC Disability Services Group on Wednesday 21st September at the new Fratelli’s venue at Brothers Cairns.
The Brothers Cairns All Abilities Rugby League participants have been taking part in coaching sessions each week on Wednesday at Brothers Leagues Club, and Fridays at Stan Williams Park. These sessions help our participants to improve physical and mental well-being, as well as drive social inclusion in a group setting. Each week, more than 25 participants attend the sessions with Tim Rumford, our Head of Coaching, and Jordan Biondi-Odo, our Engagement Officer. Around 60% of the group are the original members of the small participants that started a couple of years ago.
During this time, Brothers Cairns’ partnership with ARC Disability Services has grown significantly. Brothers are proud to be one of the only organisations involved with ARC. As a community club, we strive to provide meaningful activities for those who may otherwise not get the opportunity.
In addition to the ARC participants, Brothers Rugby League Club now have several All Abilities participants, engaging the wider community through work with Cairns Regional Council’s ‘Go Sport for Everyone’ initiative. This is an Australian Government-led program in which we are proud to be involved in.
